Integration - - Working With External Data Sources
There are three methods to access external data: infrequent or periodic, ERP, and custom integration.
- Infrequent - - for infrequently recurring data from an external source, including documents, files and tables, tools immediately import information.
- ERP Systems - - our iWAY (www.iwaysoftware.com) partner, part of Information Builders, offers 300 pre-built product adapters to standard legacy systems and ERP applications. This approach means rapid integration without lengthy custom coding, and implementation of mission critical applications without costly delays.
- Custom - - for recurring data interchange with custom systems, our tools use Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) and Extensible Markup Language (XML). These Web Services returns XML data from different data sources or manipulates data against those data sources.
Client applications and data-bound Web Parts (e.g., Spreadsheet Web Part) use a data provider service to query data source supported by particular a data source.
