Christopher Alvord, Founder, CEO, CBCP
In continuity planning, he has designed an industry-leading Web-based software package, led numerous large-scale projects, and been named a Certified Teacher and CBCP-level continuity planner by DRI International. Mr. Alvord has co-developed an extensive continuity planning curriculum, been named an Adjunct Professor at the Grad School, USDA and NYU, and is a charter member of the International Consortium for Organizational Resilience (ICOR).
He has published numerous articles in continuity planning, including pieces in Continuity Insights, DRJ Magazine, Homeland Security Leadership Alliance, Security Products, IDS- Emergency Management and BetterManagement.com. Conference presentations include DRJ, CPM, CI, ACP, ASAE, NEDRIX, ACP, ITAC, and Telestrategies.
Before founding COOP Systems, Mr. Alvord founded and managed a large horizontal eBusiness practice for AMS, Inc., a $1.2 billion management and systems consulting firm in Fairfax, VA. The responsibility covered supervision of a number of vertical industry practices worldwide, as well as direct management in the finance and energy sector practices. Gartner Group rated AMS as best in class in a November 7, 2000 study labeled "E-Business: A Look at Large Providers."
Over many years, Mr. Alvord's professional focus has been on technology strategy and resulting business change. Prior to joining AMS, he was a Director of CSC Index, focusing on emerging technologies. Before that, he was a Principal Partner for Theodore Barry & Associates (now PA Consulting) working on technology strategy and resulting design issues for Customer Service and Operations. He has also held senior management positions and consulted in the capital markets software business.
Mr. Alvord has a BA from Harvard College, MBA from Harvard Business School, and has done doctoral course work at Virginia Tech.
